Welcome to Poole High School

Welcome to Poole High School’s website.

Poole High School is a thriving successful 12-18 school providing a caring, nurturing environment for all of our learners. I know that I speak for the Governors, Staff and students when I say that we are proud of the achievements of our school and that we welcome the opportunity to work with and learn from all members of our school community. Our school’s focus on learning is the driving force behind all that we do and students experience a diverse and challenging curriculum, inside and outside the school, providing opportunities for them to continue to excel as members of our school and wider community.

We make no apologies for having high expectations and demanding high standards, knowing that this will enable all our learners to succeed and benefit from the many opportunities we offer. We aim to ensure that each student feels happy and challenged and engender a genuine appreciation of traditional standards of courtesy, respect for one another and our different beliefs, and the ambition to do well by working hard.

We see education as a partnership between parents, students and ourselves. Links with parents are of great importance to us and we are looking to increase the quantity and quality of these links all the time.

All teaching and support staff have a crucial role to play in setting standards. Through a professional, caring and sensitive approach, based on mutual respect, we achieve a great deal.

Following our recent ‘Good’ Ofsted report we are continuing to build on our provision and we are also beginning preparations for the arrival of our new Year 8 and 12 students this September. However early preparation is being made for September 2013 when we will welcome a new Year 7 and 8 to the school. Please follow the links for our admissions process.

Update Monday 14th May 2012

We are always looking for ways to make our students even safer in school. As a part of our first aid training we are now part of the Heart Start Campaign run through the British Heart Foundation by a team of doctors based in Poole NHS Trust Hospital. Dr Simon Nevitt and his team have delivered training in CPR, emergency life saving techniques and how to use a defibrillator to 25 staff and will train a further 30 this Wednesday. This will lead to summer events where students and parents will be given a chance to join us in this vital training. We will also be running a fund raiser to buy two defibrillators for the school.
